"Shay" blogpost #6

Write a one paragraph summary of the chapter. Tally is trying to get out of new pretty town. She uses bungee jump equipment to set off the fire alarm and get out of there. Then she is trying to get back to her house while hiding from the police trying to find her. Then in the bushes she meets another ugly,Shay, that was spying on the pretties while Tally pulled the alarm. Now both of them together are trying to get home.

What have you learned about Shay? Is she like Tally? Make a prediction about what will happen between Tally and Shay. Shay is an ugle that is freinds with a bridge so she can were her interface ring and not get cote. She is like Tally because she was out spying on the pretties. Also I think they'd become freinds.

Why do you think New Pretty Town advocates bungee jumping? I think they advocate it because you can look pretter while bungee jumping and thats there whole theme. Also its for fire alarms because falling off a burning building and living is very glamorous.

"Bungee has quite an old origin. The idea of this way of jumping comes from the ancient ritual "Gkol" performed in the Pentecost Island in the Pacific Archipelago of Vanuatu. The legend says that in the village Bunlap a man called Tamalie had a quarrel with his wife and she ran away and climbed a Banyan tree where she wrapped her ankles with liana vines. When Tamalie came up to her, the woman jumped from the tree and so did her husband not knowing what had his wife done. So he died but the woman survived. The men of Bunlap were very impressed by this performance and they began to practise such jumps in case they got in similar situation. This practice transformed into a ritual for rich yam harvest and also for proving manhood.Modern bungee jumping as we know it today actually started on the 1st of April ( Fools' Day ) 1979 when group of people from the Oxford University Dangerous Sport Club, impressed by a film about "vine jumpers", jumped from 245-Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol, England. Using nylon braided, rubber shock cord instead of vines, and dressed in their customary top hat and tails, they performed a four man simultaneous jump .The enthysiasts promptly were arrested for this. But at least hit the world press the next day. The new adrenaline mania has been started. The D.S.C. performed many other jumps, including one off the Golden Gate Bridge. In early 1988, A.J. Hackett and Chris Allum, opened the first commercial jump site in Ohakune, New Zealand. Hackett also made a great commercial show in 1987 when he jumped from the Eiffel Tower in Paris.. As part of the site publicity, Hackett performed an astounding bungee jump from the Eiffel Tower! Nowadays there have already been a lot of towers,cranes,bridges and even hot-air balloons serving as platforms for jumping and bungee is the simplest and easily understood of the aerial extreme sports."

Characterization of Tally-Tally is a ugly in this book, she has frizzy hair, a wide nose,and too-high forehead. She is a high spirited and smart girl that spies on the pretties. She is so called freinds with Peris a pretty and wantes to be like him, a pretty. She is also very snecy and good at spying.

Characterization of Peris- Peris is 3 months older than Tally and was her freind. But know he's a pretty and is a rich snobe that lookes down on pretties. Also he only wantes to be tallies freind when shes a pretty.

How do you fell about the freindship of Tally and Persi? Are they true best freinds?Why or Why not? I feel that Peris and Tally were freinds when they were uglies but not anymore because true freinds wouldn't care about outside apperiences. But Peris would only be freinds with Tally is was a pretty and thats not a true freind.

Why do you think Tally chose to wear a mask to the party that was deemed "white tie"-Because one she didn't know it was deemed "white tie" and she wanted to were a masked so knowon would see she was an ugly in new pretty town.

Have you ever had a freind like peris who abandoned you freindship after moving. Explain.

Ya I have had a freind abandon me. I realy don't remenber him but I know it was in pre-k. We were freinds since we were born, same hospital, same hallway, and he was only born 3 days younger than me. He was such a good freind sometimes I thought of him as my twin even though we looked nothing alike. His dad had to move because of work and thats all I remember about him. All I remember after he left it was realy boring without him and I finaly realised that I basicaly lost one of my best freinds it was realy sad.

Describe the following terms:

1.Interface ring- An interface ring is a mishmosh of a lot of things. It can be an I.d., tracking devise, and a acess key. Basically its you life in ugly town or pretty town or whatever.

2.Toothbrush pill-A toothbrush pill is a toothbrush in a pill. It has the meaning in the name but the liquid in it cleans you teeth.

3.cacophony-Unpleasent sound.

How do you define beauty? What would the world be like if everyone was "beautiful"?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and sometimes other people like other things. If everyone was beautiful nowon would be theyed all be the same only the rich snobes would be beautiful.

Ipicked the rainbowish thing pretty because it realy appeals to me. It realy pops out and says hey look at me. I picked the red sculpture thing as ugle because its boring. Like okay I'm a sculpture that doesn't make and sence and just strate lines. I liked the rainbow over the boring sculptre because I think that the rainbow adds a little pazzas not like the boring modern art faze sculture.
